Gforce staff members and their families assisted in packing up after Cottage by the Sea's annual fair on the weekend. The major fundraiser, held every year, raised over $70,000 for the children's charity. A big thank you to all the staff that donated their time to assist on the day. Two Geelong locals are shining a spotlight on vocational training after earning national recognition for being among the best apprentices and trainees in Australia. Carpentry apprentice Alexander Innes, 20, of Belmont, and Education trainee Grace Brennan, 18 of Highton, were among 19 people selected from a field of about 30,000 to take part in Group Training Australia's annual leadership program.
Gforce once again sponsored the Human Resources Award at the 2014 Geelong Business Excellence Awards. Established in 1986, the event recognises organisations that have achieved business excellence in the Geelong region. The Awards are the oldest continuously running and most prestigious business awards programs in Australia, and, as such, provide a significant recognition and celebration of business achievement and performance.
Gforce recently hosted the August 2014 Geelong Business Network breakfast. Gforce CEO Rob Birch introduced Mayor Darryn Lyons who was interviewed by Paula Kontelj, FM presenter and Liberal Candidate for Geelong. Rob set the scene for the interview with an outline of the changing landscape of industry and employment in our region. The focus of the Geelong economy is now moving from traditional manufacturing and processing to advanced manufacturing and a range of service industries, including research, education, administration, professional services, tourism and hospitality.
This month Gforce hosted a stunning evening that celebrated the regions finest in industry. 240 guests attended a showcase evening where exceptional employers, apprentices and trainees were rewarded for their contribution and commitment to industry, at the inaugural Gforce Awards, held at the Geelong Football Club ‘Captains Room’.
