Gforce's Staffing Solutions division will continue to help shape Geelong's diverse workforce after winning an increased five-year federal government Employment Services contract to deliver quality services to job seekers and employers across the region. Chief Executive Officer Rob Birch says the new Employment Services 2015-20 contract called Jobactive means Gforce can increase its positive impact on the region's community. And he is confident Geelong's business leaders can help provide career pathways for unemployed people wanting to work.
Gforce Employment Solutions is bringing its successful Apprentices & Trainees program to Ballarat to help businesses build a strong future for themselves and the city's young people. The group training organisation, one of Victoria's largest employers of apprentices and trainees, wants to place 30 trainees and apprentices with businesses in the next 12 months. And program leader Lucy O'Reilly is adamant that's got to be good news for the regional city.
Young workers will get skills of a different kind in a partnership between Gforce and headspace. The partnership will help those aged 12 to 25 to better deal with they general, sexual and mental health and substance problems. Gforce chief Rob Birch said the company employed more than 420 apprentices and trainees in Geelong and both staff and clients had seen a need to enhance health service access, information and support. "Headspace Geelong now offers outreach alcohol and other drug (AOD) services at Gforce's offices for up to a day a week," Mr Birch said.
Gforce trainee Grace Brennan has been selected as an Australian Apprenticeship Ambassador in order to share her real-life success story with would-be trainees. The 19 year old has completed a certificate III traineeship in Education Support at Clonard College and is now currently completing her certificate IV.
Gforce staff members and their families assisted in packing up after Cottage by the Sea's annual fair on the weekend. The major fundraiser, held every year, raised over $70,000 for the children's charity. A big thank you to all the staff that donated their time to assist on the day.
